Biography

O Bastardo (b. 1997) is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, engaging themes of power, violence, masculinity, colonial legacy, and social control. His work often employs raw, confrontational imagery and symbolic figures to examine how systems of domination—political, religious, and cultural—shape bodies and behavior. Drawing from Brazilian history, street culture, and contemporary global politics, O Bastardo creates works that oscillate between satire and brutality, exposing the psychological and structural forces underlying oppression. His practice is marked by an aggressive visual language that challenges viewers to confront discomfort, complicity, and resistance within contemporary society.
