Biography

Lorna Simpson (1960-) is an American multidisciplinary artist working across photography, collage, and video installations. Her work explores questions about the nature of representation, identity, gender, race, and history. Simpson's work pushes the boundaries of conceptual photography. Simpson received her BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 1982 and her MFA from the University of California, San Diego in 1985.
