Biography

vanessa german (b. 1976, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) is an American sculptor, painter, performance artist, poet and community-activist who describes herself as a “citizen artist.” Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, German creates deeply expressive mixed-media sculptures and immersive installations that draw from found objects, ritual, storytelling and Afro-diasporic traditions.
