Biography

Stacey Gillian Abe (born 1995, London, UK) is a British-Nigerian interdisciplinary artist whose work explores intimacy, desire, vulnerability, and the politics of looking through painting, drawing, performance, and video. Her practice centers the Black femme body as a site of tenderness and agency, often depicting close-cropped figures, fragmented forms, and moments of quiet eroticism. Abe’s work resists spectacle in favor of softness and interiority, using gesture and scale to examine how Black bodies are seen, held, and imagined. Through a pared-down visual language, she creates emotionally charged works that foreground care, presence, and self-possession.
