Sonia Gomes

Sonia Gomes (b. 1948, Caetanópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil) is a Brazilian sculptor and assemblage artist renowned for transforming found textiles, fabrics, cords, driftwood, and everyday objects into dynamic, large-scale sculptures. Her work combines abstraction with tactile, organic forms and draws heavily on Afro-Brazilian traditions, memory, and cultural heritage.
