Biography

Manuel Mathieu (1986- ) is a Haitian multi-disciplinary artist working across painting, ceramics, and installation. His work investigates themes of historical violence, erasure, and cultural approaches to physicality, nature,e and spiritual legacy. He pulls from Western art movements as a framework to explore how individual identities are situated into larger social-political contexts.  Mathieu received his bachelor in arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2010 and his MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2016.
