Biography

Ladi Kwali (c. 1925 – 12 August 1984) was a Nigerian potter, ceramicist, and educator celebrated for blending traditional Gwari pottery techniques with Western studio practices. Her work, distinguished by hand-coiled forms, incised and sgraffito decoration, and masterful glazing, elevated everyday vessels into artistic embodiments of heritage, symbolism, and innovation.
