Cicely Carew

Cicely Carew is a Boston-based multidisciplinary artist whose exuberant work explores joy, liberation, and embodied experience. Her practice spans painting, printmaking, collage, and installation, often combining vibrant color palettes, gestural abstraction, and layered textures to evoke the complexity and dynamism of being. Carew’s work celebrates Black femininity and spiritual resilience, often drawing on the language of abstraction to explore healing, ancestral memory, and transformation. She holds an MFA from Lesley University and has exhibited widely across the U.S., with her work featured in solo and group shows as well as public art commissions.
