Biography

William Pajuad (1925-2015) was an American painter. He is most known for his watercolor works. He often painted Black women, jazz funerals, street scenes, and memories of his childhood in New Orleans and his adult life in Los Angeles. He built the Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Fine Art Collection, one of the best collections of Black art in the Western region.  Pajaud earned a BFA from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans in 1941. He also received a degree in graphic design from Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.
