Peter Bradley

Peter Bradley (born September 15, 1940, Connellsville, Pennsylvania, United States) is an American artist whose abstract painting and sculpture practice explores color, rhythm, improvisation, and formal intensity. Working across painting and sculpture, Bradley examines abstraction through saturated color, sprayed acrylic, gestural layering, and a visual language often associated with Color Field painting and the improvisatory structure of jazz.  Bradley studied at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit and at Yale University. His work often engages abstraction, material experimentation, and the relationship between movement and color, using acrylic thickened with gel medium, spray application, and sculptural form to consider how color can operate as subject, atmosphere, and force.  Their work has been exhibited at Karma, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and other major institutions, including recent solo presentations such as Ruling Light: Paintings from the 1970s and Ten Sculptures. No major standalone awards or honors were clearly verified in the sources I reviewed. Peter Bradley lives and works in Saugerties, New York.
