Biography

Michael Rolando Richards (1963-2001) was an American sculptor of Jamaican and Costa Rican ancestry. Richards explored grief, trauma, and religion in his practice. Richards sought to highlight a Black experience, a real and raw experience through his sculptures and installations. Recurring themes in his work were pilots, airplanes, wings, and targets Richards received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queens College and a Master of Arts from New York University.
