Biography

Kamala Ibrahim Ishag (b. 1939-) is a Sudanese painter and art teacher known as one of the founders of The Crystalist conceptual art group in Khartoum. The goal of Khartoum was to allow the all-female artists of the group to distinguish themselves from the traditional male center outlook prevalent in the 1970s Sudanese art scene. Ishag's work uses the concepts of earthliness and the spiritual to discuss humans' connection to the natural world #Sudan #Sudaneseartist #painter #Khartoum #blackart
