Exhibition Description
News from the Near Future: 30 Years of Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo is conceived as both a retrospective and a speculative gesture, tracing the foundation’s role in supporting emerging and established artists since its establishment in 1995. Rather than presenting a linear institutional history, the exhibition assembles artworks that speak to moments of rupture, anticipation, and change—mirroring the evolving conditions under which contemporary art is produced and received. The exhibition includes works across a wide range of media, including installation, sculpture, painting, video, photography, and performance-based practices. Artists represented reflect the international scope of the foundation’s program and its long-standing commitment to experimentation, critical inquiry, and global dialogue. Many of the works address themes such as political power, technology, identity, migration, environmental transformation, and the role of art in shaping public consciousness. By positioning the exhibition as “news” from a future that is always approaching, News from the Near Future emphasizes contemporary art’s capacity to respond to the present while imagining alternative futures. Organized by Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, the exhibition underscores the foundation’s curatorial ethos: sustained engagement with artists over time and a belief in art as an active force within society. The exhibition is presented at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Via Modane 16, Turin, Italy.
