Adiskidan Ambaye Solo Exhibition
This exhibition presents a contemplative body of work by Adiskidan Ambaye that interrogates how emptiness and space define form. The show includes paintings and sculptures that contemplate the interplay between absence and presence, evoking balance, depth, and movement through layered textures and organic forms. Through intricately layered paintings and delicately balanced sculptures, Exile Within invites viewers to reflect on spirituality, perception, and the tumultuous patterns of contemporary life.

Exile Within is a solo exhibition by Ethiopian artist Adiskidan Ambaye whose practice draws on spirituality, memory, and abstraction to reveal the unseen structures that shape visible reality. Addis Fine Art, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Runs September 14-November 1, 2025.
Exhibition Description
Ambaye’s paintings are constructed from countless small circles that expand outward to form amorphous, semi-figurative shapes. These layered circles create movement, depth, and texture, while recalling earlier works in which she used eggshells as material. The figures merge background and foreground in dazzling colors, endlessly intertwined. Complementing the paintings are three sculptures composed of slivers of plywood fused together to transform driftwood into gestural, dancer-like forms that defy gravity. The works together open a meditative space between visibility and absence.
