Biography

Tsedaye Makonnen (b. 1984, Washington, D.C., U.S.) is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, researcher, and cultural producer. Makonnen’s practice weaves together Black feminist theory, site-specific research, performance, installation, sculpture, textile work, film, and curatorial projects. Her work is deeply informed by her identities as the daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, a mother, doula, and sanctuary builder.
