Biography

Phoebe Beasley (1943- ) is an American painter, collagist, printmaker, and mixed media artist. Her colorful work focuses on scenes from everyday life. She is the only artist whose work has been awarded the Presidential Seal under two different U.S. Presidents, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Beasley received her BFA in art education from Ohio University in 1965. She received her MFA from Kent State University. Additionally, she received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Ohio University in 2005.
