Biography

Nthabiseng Boledi Kekana is a South African painter whose figurative works explore the interior and social realities of Black womanhood within contemporary South Africa. Working primarily in painting, Kekana constructs intimate scenes that center domestic space, personal memory, and the psychological landscapes of her subjects. Her compositions often highlight gesture, posture, and subtle emotional cues, foregrounding vulnerability, resilience, and quiet strength. Through a careful balance of narrative and atmosphere, Kekana interrogates themes of identity, belonging, and the evolving roles of women in post-apartheid society. Her work has been exhibited with David Krut Projects and other contemporary art platforms in South Africa.
