Biography

Jammie Holmes (b. 1984, Thibodaux, Louisiana, USA) is a self-taught painter whose work explores Black life in the Deep South through intimate portraiture, ritual scenes, and symbolic storytelling. Raised in a place marked by the legacies of poverty, racism, and the Thibodaux Massacre, Holmes draws on childhood memory, community, and family to create vivid, emotionally charged canvases that balance realism and abstraction
