Biography

Francisco Masó (born 1988, Havana, Cuba) is a Miami-based AfroLatinx visual artist whose work examines power, surveillance, and the aesthetics of state control through photography, painting, installation, and archival-based research. Drawing from his lived experience in Cuba’s political and visual culture, Masó investigates how systems of authority—military structures, propaganda, police presence, and public space—shape behavior and perception. His practice incorporates found documents, code-based mark-making, and abstractions derived from uniforms, insignia, and bureaucratic design to question who is seen, who is watched, and who holds power. Masó has exhibited nationally and internationally, and his work has been featured in institutions such as Pérez Art Museum Miami, Oolite Arts, and various Latin American contemporary art platforms.
