Biography

Binta Ayofemi is an American visual artist. Her work primarily takes the form of architecture and sculpture. She is informed by Afrofuturism and groups such as the Black Panthers and the Black Shakers to reimagine both public and private spaces. One of her goals is to transform otherwise abandoned spaces into meccas for Black culture and art. Ayofemi's work explores the political dimesons of space and occupancy.
