Biography
Barbara Chase-Riboud (1939- ) is a French-American sculptor and artist working on paper. Born in Philadelphia, she traveled to Egypt and Greece, and her experiences with ancient sculptural forms left a large impact on her practice. Her distinct style involves bronze forms cast in the lost wax method with flowing tendrils and tresses of silk and other fabrics.
Chase-Riboud received a BFA from the Tyler School at Temple University in 1956 and was awarded a John Hay Whitney Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome in 1957. In 1960, she received her MFA at Yale University School of Design and Architecture.
